IP Address Security

Securing your accounting is very important. After all, you don't want your numbers to be leaked or fall into the hands of hackers. To secure this as best as possible, Informer uses not only the standard username and password but also a security code. To further enhance the security of your account, Informer performs a check based on IP address.

Validating IP Address

By default, the system sends an email the first time you log in from an IP address that is new to Informer, to the email address provided in your user settings.

In that email, you as the user must validate that you are attempting to log in. The IP address you are working from at that moment will be added to your user account, and Informer will grant you direct access the next time you log in from that IP address.

However, you can also choose to validate a new IP address immediately.

To immediately validate a new IP address, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Users.

  2. Open the user.

  3. Scroll down on the 'Security and login details' tab and choose 'Do not block new IP address'.

Note: This does not work with IP addresses that still need to be validated!

Additional IP Address Security

It is not always possible to automatically validate your IP address. This depends on the settings in the security center, set by your account administrator. To increase the security of the account, a new IP address can always be blocked until it is validated.

Note: This setting does not apply if a user uses a passkey.

Viewing, Validating, or Blocking Existing IP Addresses

If you are on vacation and want to check your accounting, you will log in from a new IP address. It is naturally understood that you do not want to grant permanent access to that IP address. Therefore, you can view all IP addresses that have ever logged in with the account.

You can find the IP addresses via Settings > General > IP Addresses.

Here, you can block or validate IP addresses by opening them and turning the Blocked option on or off.
