The Informer login process is already extra secure by default with a security code. To add even more security during login, you can enable Google Two-Factor Authentication. With this additional security, after entering the standard three pieces of information, an additional code will be required. This code refreshes several times per minute, so you can only log in if you have the correct code available at that moment in the Google Authenticator app.
First and foremost, it is very important that you install the mobile app "Google Authenticator" on your phone.
Activate Two-factor authentication
To enable Two-Factor Authentication, follow the steps below:
Navigate to Settings in the left-hand menu;
Choose Users;
Click on your own user and open the tab Security and login details;
Activate Two-factor authentication;
Scan the QR code with the Google Authenticator app or enter the code manually by clicking on +;
After scanning the QR code or enter manually, the two-factor authentication will be loaded to the Google authenticator app;
The login process is now secured with one more step.
Security first
It's good to know that when you save an account in Google Authenticator, it is not stored in the cloud. The data remains on your device itself. This is safer and ensures that codes can also be generated offline. However, it also presents a problem. If you change devices, you will need to manually set up your accounts again. This means finding the settings on the site, scanning the QR code, and so on.
Important: If you've changed your phone or lost your phone, please contact the helpdesk. They can assist you with logging in again!
Passkey within Informer
To further enhance the security of the login process, passkeys can be used. How this works is explained in the help item How do I use passkeys to log in to Informer?
